What is a Dental Appliance?

It takes more than merely brushing and flossing to maintain good oral health. For those of us who clench or grind our teeth, snore or play sports, dental appliances can help protect not only our oral structures, but the health of our entire bodies.

At Cornerstone Dental with Dr. Clark, we offer dental appliances, including sleep apnea devices and mouth guards. They are used to help improve and protect the health of your oral cavity.

Snoring & Sleep Apnea Appliances

Sleep disorders can not only disrupt your sleep but could also negatively impact your overall health and wellbeing.

In patients who snore, their throat tissues relax and cause the airway to become blocked, producing the sound we know as snoring as oxygen is forced through.

For patients who suffer from sleep apnea, their over-relaxed throat tissues obstruct the airway. This forces the brain to wake them up to breathe.

At Cornerstone Dental with Dr. Clark, we provide custom-fitted oral appliances that can shift the lower jaw and tongue muscles in order to open the airway. This helps improve airflow and keeps you from waking up throughout the night.

Custom-Fitted Mouth Guards

We offer custom-made mouthguards that fit over your teeth to help protect them from damage.

Sports Guards

If you happen to take a hit to the mouth while playing sports, a mouthguard can act as a barrier between your teeth and the soft tissue of your mouth, protecting your smile.

Night Guards

Do you clench your jaw as you sleep? A mouthguard can prevent you from clenching and provide relief from pain. If teeth grinding is your issue, a mouth guard could also help protect your teeth from damage or injury.
